Having Your Photo Made By Serin Yates Whether we are talking professional photos for career purposes, a snapshot for mom, or a picture for your significant other, understanding what lights will do for and to your coloring, clothing, and cosmetics, if any, will help produce a picture perfect you. Most photographs in today's world are in color, but even a black-and-white photo requires that you pay attention to the colors you wear. If you are having a photograph made in a studio, the lights will be as close to "natural" as "man-made" lighting can be. Stay with middle-of-the-road colors for clothing--not too light and not too dark. Matte make-up in neutrals or even muted jewel-tones are best. Go easy on eye make-up and don't wear lip gloss. A diffusion filter will soften wrinkles and coloring, even minimize facial blemishes. If this photo is being made in sunlight, colors will appear much brighter. Make certain you stay with natural colors. Brights get really bright! Blend make-up well because nothing "shows everything" like natural sunlight! Again, a diffusion filter will help the final result. If you are having a black-and-white photograph done, usually for newspapers or professional reasons now, you don't need to worry about color. It is more important to think contrast: light and dark. Don't wear red (it turns black), lip gloss, or frosted make-up. Last, but not least, remember to smile for the camera. You don't need to show every tooth in your head, of course, but your smile lends a happy, positive note to your picture. Other hints for any photo:
