Diet for a New America: How Your Food
Choices Affect Your Health, Happiness and the Future of Life on Earth by John Robbins
Robbin looks at our dependence on animals for food and the inhumane conditions under which these animals are
raised and concludes the animal suffering is so extreme and needless that it disrupts our very place in the web of life.
John Robbins then challenges the belief that consuming meat is a requirement for health
and causes a high health risk to all of us. Finally, Robbins looks at the global implications of a meat-based diet and concludes that the consumption of the resources necessary to produce meat is a major factor in our ecological crisis.

Food for Life: How the New
Four Food Groups Can Save Your Life by Neal D. Barnard, MD
Dr. Bernard writes, "Certain foods slow the effects of time, while others speed them
up. In addition, foods can change the amounts of hormones in the body." Citing
overwhelming medical evidence previously downplayed by powerful lobby groups, Dr.Barnard
reveals why a diet based on the four food groups (grains, legumes, vegetables, and fruits)
will sharply decrease the risk of cancer and heart disease while increasing life
expectancy. And, most important, he shows how the quality of your later years can be vital
rather than full of chronic disease. An unexpected plus for this program is weight
loss by most who make the transition to this new way of healthy eating. Dr.
Barnards books are very well documented with extensive footnotes to research.
