Slim pickin's for vegetarians in South Dallas and south of Dallas. The one vegetarian restaurant went out-of-business.

Ann's Health Center & Market Many vegetarian/vegan selections, sandwiches, and fresh veggie juices. Their mock chicken salad is the best--as a wrap at the store or stuffed in a tomato at home. Ton's Mongolian Grill You are what you eat!?! Choose your own ingredients and sauces from a buffet of veggies and tofu, even some cholesterol-laden flesh. Add your own special sauces with assistance from the staff if necessary. Then watch the chef cook it for you. The ingredients are fresh and the food can be as healthy or as unhealthy as you wish. Interesting experience and we will definitely return here. Not romantic, no alcohol. Your food will probably pick up meat "juices" as it is cooked on the grill. Mongolian 2021 N. Cotton Patch Cafe Small town, friendly spot with 'soul' meat the prime focus. An assortment of five veggies are available for a vegetable plate--the only healthy entree. Home cookin' 124 W Beltline, Cedar Hill 972 293-3300 H $

Posados Cafe Two veggie choices: Vegetable Quesadilla and special order Vegetable Feast Fajitas. The fajitas are truly a vegetable feast but... rice and beans have animals! Order another portion of roasted potatoes instead. 4000 Towne Crossing Blvd, Mesquite 972 682-0688. H $-$$

Souper Salad Salad bar, soup, baked potato spot. They have five plant-based soups. Unfortunately, you can't count on them offering at least one each day. Plant-based soups are butterbean, vegetarian vegetable, vegetable lentils, mushroom barley, and, minestrone. Call ahead and go over only if one soup is plant-based that day.
