Sierra Club is an
environmental club which has been in existence since 1892.
There are three chapters serving the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex and north Central Texas. They are: 1. Dallas Sierra Club which meets the second Wednesday of each month in Addison. 2. Fort Worth Sierra Club which meets the third Wednesday of each month in Fort Worth and the fourth Friday of the month in Arlington. 3. Cross Timbers Sierra Club which meets from time-to-time and maintains contact through an email list. Sierra Club has many environmentally-based national campaigns. One campaign from the Sustainable Consumption Committee is sustainable food which includes the True Cost of Food. This is a short video that explains the true cost of food in the US today. It, available free for a short time by emailing your name and address to Email here The Sustainable Food Campaign promotes plant-based food that is organic and locally grown when practical. Sierra Club also sponsors Sustainable Sunday in the Dallas-Fort Worth, Denton/North Central Texas areas. More information about Sustainable Sunday here. |
